  • Position the trailer - Back up to the unloading area

  • Activate the dump - Use the control to raise the bed hydraulically

Frequently Asked Questions - Utility Trailer

What's the difference between a utility trailer and your other trailers?

Our utility trailer is a basic open flatbed - simple, versatile, and affordable. It doesn't have hydraulic dump, enclosed walls, or tilt mechanisms. It's just a solid 16' platform with side rails and a fold-down gate. For basic hauling jobs, it's all you need at less than half the cost of specialized trailers.

Can my SUV tow the utility trailer?

Most full-size SUVs (Tahoe, Expedition, Yukon, 4Runner) can tow our utility trailer when it's loaded with typical materials. Check your vehicle's towing capacity on the door sticker - you need at least 5,000 lbs capacity for loaded hauling. You'll also need a 2" ball hitch and 7-way electrical plug. When in doubt, call us with your vehicle info.

What can I fit on a 16' utility trailer?

The 16' length handles full-length lumber (up to 16'), multiple sheets of plywood, a couch and other furniture, 2-3 cubic yards of loose material (mulch, soil), riding lawnmowers, ATVs, and most items that won't fit in a truck bed. The 4,735 lb capacity handles most residential hauling needs.

How much mulch or gravel can I haul?

You can fit about 2-3 cubic yards of mulch on the utility trailer (mulch is relatively light). For gravel and heavier materials, you'll hit the weight limit before filling the trailer - about 1.5-2 cubic yards of gravel depending on type. The trailer doesn't have sides tall enough to contain loose material, so bring a tarp or plan for a level load.

Why is the utility trailer cheaper than your other trailers?

The utility trailer is a simpler design - no hydraulic systems, no enclosed walls, no tilt mechanisms. Less complexity means lower rental cost. At $80/day weekdays, it's our way of offering an affordable option for basic hauling jobs that don't require special features.

Can I haul a riding lawnmower on the utility trailer?

Absolutely! Riding mowers are one of the most common items we see on the utility trailer. Drive it up the fold-down rear gate (it acts as a ramp) and secure it with the included straps. Zero-turn mowers, garden tractors, and lawn equipment all fit easily.

Do I need to bring my own straps?

No - tie-down straps are included with the utility trailer rental. We provide enough straps for typical loads. If you're hauling something unusual or want extra security, you're welcome to bring additional straps.

Can I use the utility trailer for moving?

Yes! The utility trailer is great for moving furniture, appliances, and boxes for short local moves. It's more affordable than renting a moving truck for small loads. Just remember it's open - no weather protection. For valuable items or rain in the forecast, consider our enclosed trailer instead.

How does the fold-down gate work?

The rear gate folds down to become a ramp, making it easy to roll or drive items onto the trailer. For items like riding mowers, ATVs, or anything with wheels, just fold the gate down and drive/roll it on. For boxes and furniture, you can also load from the sides over the rails.

Do you offer same-day utility trailer rentals?

Yes! The utility trailer is often available for same-day pickup since it's one of our most-stocked trailers. That said, weekends are busy. For guaranteed Saturday availability, booking a day ahead is smart. Call (925) 369-5910 to check current availability.

Can I haul an ATV on the utility trailer?

Yes! ATVs, dirt bikes, and small UTVs fit easily. Drive them up the fold-down gate and secure with straps. You can fit 2-3 ATVs depending on size. For full-size side-by-sides, measure the width - most fit, but wider models might be tight.

What's the weekly rate for the utility trailer?

Weekly rental is $450/week - that's less than 6 days at the daily rate. If you have a week-long project, ongoing hauling needs, or just want the flexibility to make multiple trips over several days, the weekly rate saves money. Great for landscaping projects that require multiple material pickups.
