How the Hydraulic Dump System Works

No shoveling required. Here's how easy it is:

  • Load the trailer - Fill it up with debris at your job site

  • Haul to the dump - Drive to the landfill or transfer station

  • Position the trailer - Back up to the unloading area

  • Activate the dump - Use the control to raise the bed hydraulically

  • Watch it slide out - Materials flow out the rear gate

  • Lower and go - Reset the bed and you're ready for the next load

Frequently Asked Questions - Car Hauler

What size car hauler do I need for my vehicle?

Check your vehicle's curb weight. For vehicles under 5,000 lbs (most sedans, coupes, compact SUVs), our 18' or 20' Standard trailers work perfectly. For vehicles over 5,000 lbs (full-size trucks, large SUVs, heavy sports cars), use our 20' Heavy Duty trailer with 6,760 lb capacity. Not sure? Call us with your vehicle's make and model - we'll recommend the right trailer.

What's included with car hauler rentals?

Everything you need is included at no extra charge: heavy-duty loading ramps, 4 professional ratchet tie-down straps, and a mounted spare tire. We also provide a walkthrough on proper loading and tie-down techniques. You just need a tow vehicle with a 2" ball hitch and 7-way electrical plug.

Can I haul a non-running vehicle?

Absolutely! Our car haulers are perfect for non-running vehicles. Use the included ramps and push the vehicle up (it's easier than you think), use a come-along or winch, or use wheel dollies for stuck wheels. Many customers rent specifically for picking up project cars, auction purchases, or vehicles that need to go to the mechanic.

What tow vehicle do I need?

Your tow vehicle needs sufficient towing capacity for the trailer plus your vehicle's weight. For most car-hauling situations, a half-ton truck (F-150, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500) works fine. For heavy loads approaching 6,000+ lbs total, a 3/4 ton truck is better. You'll need a 2" ball hitch and 7-way electrical plug.

Can I rent a car hauler for a one-way trip?

Our rentals are round-trip from our Martinez location. However, for long-distance moves or special circumstances, call us to discuss options. Many customers use our trailers for trips to Sacramento, the Bay Area, or even Southern California and return the same day or next day.

How do I properly secure a vehicle on the trailer?

Use all 4 included ratchet straps - one over each tire. Loop the strap over the tire (not around suspension or frame), hook to the trailer's tie-down points, and ratchet tight. The tire should compress slightly when properly secured. We demonstrate this technique at pickup and can answer any questions.

Can I haul an ATV or side-by-side on your car hauler?

Yes! Our car haulers work great for ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides, and motorcycles. You can fit 2-3 ATVs or one full-size side-by-side. Use the included straps to secure them. For motorcycles, we recommend using a wheel chock (bring your own) in addition to straps.

Do you offer same-day car hauler rentals?

Yes! Same-day rentals are available based on trailer availability. Car haulers are popular, especially on weekends when people are picking up vehicles from private sales. For guaranteed availability, we recommend booking at least a day ahead. Call (925) 369-5910 to check current availability.

What if my vehicle is wider or longer than average?

Our 20' trailers accommodate most vehicles including full-size trucks and SUVs. The deck width handles dual rear wheel trucks. For especially long vehicles (extended cab long bed trucks, limousines), call us with dimensions and we'll confirm fitment. In rare cases, our 24' deckover trailer might be a better option.

Can I transport a vehicle with a lifted suspension or low ground clearance?

Yes to both! For lifted trucks, you'll have more room under the chassis - no issues. For lowered or low-clearance vehicles (sports cars, lowriders), approach the ramps at an angle to avoid scraping. Take it slow and have a spotter watch the underside. Our ramps have a gradual incline that works for most vehicles.

Is it legal to tow a car on a trailer with passengers inside?

No. It's illegal and dangerous to have anyone in the vehicle being towed. All passengers must ride in the tow vehicle. Also, make sure nothing loose is inside the towed vehicle - items can shift during transport.

What's the difference between your car hauler and a tow dolly?

A tow dolly only lifts the front wheels - the rear wheels roll on the road. Our car haulers are full flatbed trailers that carry the entire vehicle. Flatbed trailers are better for: AWD/4WD vehicles (dollies can damage the drivetrain), non-running vehicles, long distances (less wear on rear tires), and valuable vehicles you want fully protected.
